Should I stay with Mizuno MX 300 Irons or even get new JPX 800 professional irons? Finally, I actually find the MX300s over the JPX 800 Pros following comparing both side by side.
The actual 800 Pros are a small bigger club, little heavier top line, little more flexible. Between the MX300 and the MX200.They also have the springier feel. I'm not sure how much of the is from the claimed warmer face or from the place. The Pros may have been a little bit lengthier, but not by more than a few back yards. At best a half membership, but I would be hard pressed to express that.
The 800 Benefits will feel better on whenever you miss the sweet place due to the insert. As you most likely know, the 300s don't truly hurt on a mishit, but they perform let you know that you didn't very pure it. With the Eight hundred Pros you will probably find yourself needing to look at the ball flight to verify how much you missed this.
Chipping is one area exactly where I really preferred the Mizuno MX 300 Irons.
Upon another db, a well respected membership maker / fitter documented measuring 2000 rpm much less backspin with the 800 Pros. I am not sure I want that. At the least you might want to make some adjustments for it in your approaches.
If you are looking for a bit more forgiveness and few additional yards at the expense of a few feel.
A local golfing shop loaned me a Mizuno MX-300 as well as MP-52 6 iron for a couple times. I had a shootout between the r7, MX-300, as well as MP-52 and had a clear winner after a couple of hours.
Distance and Accuracy
There was no distance upgrade which is fine. They are within a couple yards of each other. However, there is an accuracy difference. I played a 10 yard draw with the r7's, but the MX-300's are point and shoot. Not too workable, but that's not what I want anyways. The Ping i15's came in 2nd and lost out in the feel department. They also flight higher. The R9's were big but the offset was good. Unfortunately, they don't feel very good when you hit them sometimes.
Looks
The Mizuno MX-300 is a beautiful iron. It is not bright chrome like other Mizuno, instead they have a darker satin chrome finish. The offset is perfect for me. That was my major gripe with the TM r7's they had too much offset. The blade size is also just right. They aren't gigantic like g10's or R9's (the offset was nice on R9's too). The only thing I didn't care for was that you can see the cavity in the 4, 5, and 6 irons.
Forgiveness and Feel
The forgiveness is amazing on these irons. They are very comparable to my r7's, but the misses felt less harsh. Also, distance loss was similar to all the game improvement clubs mentioned and unlike MP 52 which lost at least 5-7 more yards than the GI clubs. The 4 iron in this set is also very good. I haven't used a 3 or 4 iron in many years but this one is almost as easy to hit as a hybrid. The best thing about the Mizuno MX 300 Irons is the FEEL. I didn't think you can get feel like this in a GI cavity back. Hitting the sweet spot feels so good, almost drug-like. Very close to a pured blade which is a sensation I don't get to feel very often.
