Released last year, the Titleist 2010 AP1 and AP2 Irons blended forgiveness and power in game-improvement models, while better-player models incorporated more shot-shaping feel. So today it is my pleasure to introduce the specifications of the two golf clubs.
Titleist 2010 AP1 Irons
The thin face with integrated aluminum and soft elastomer Tuned Feel System in the back cavity improves sound and feel at impact for a hotter, more lively feel. A high density tungsten nickel sole bar reduces low frequency vibration for a solid feel. Thin face, dual cavity design pushes weight to the perimeter for a hotter face and flight. High performance lightweight shaft with a medium tip for control and a softer mid section for feel. The dual cavity and multi-material design are a radical departure from anything Titleist has made in the past and have been designed with one key bit of player feedback at the forefront: feel.
The Advanced Performance Titleist 2010 AP1 Irons are cast from 431 stainless steel and feature a tungsten nickel box that is laser welded to the body and is located in the back and sole of the iron. It covers the lower cavity and is designed to keep weight lower while giving players both good feel and added forgiveness. This lower center of gravity gives players a higher launch angle with more ball speed and what Titleist calls "consistent spin performance across the hitting area." The upper cavity sits above the elastomer cushion and is adorned with a metallic cavity plate. Weight is pushed to the perimeter to give you increased forgiveness.
Titleist 2010 AP2 Irons
With its 2010 AP2, Titleist moved on to combine multi-materials – steel body, elastomer bar, tungsten nickel sole, and aluminum cavity plate. The mix of materials make traditionalists suspicious but it has the traditional feel purists approve. Technically, the Titleist 2010 AP2 Irons are a mega hitter.
A high density tungsten-nickel box encloses the lower cavity of the AP2 iron. The material keeps the weight low and significantly deep and reinforces structural rigidity while keeping vibration frequency low. Using a tungsten-nickel box was a smart choice because it reduced sole and back flange width assuring sharper performance on the greens and better shot control.
Overall, the above-mentioned two irons will help you improve your game from the perspective of felelings, control and more, so I highly recommend that you test them for yourself if you're in the market for new irons.
