Golf's British Open came down to a pressure-packed final round for Northern Irishman Darren Clarke. He'd try to win his first major title at a windswept Royal St.

Sergio Garcia proved best able to deal with the strong wind with Callaway RAZR X Irons. He is one of the best players never to have won a major, and hit birdies at 2, 4, 5 and 7. He would eventually compile a round of 68 - and finish in a share of ninth.

The main contenders came out later in the day. Phil Mickelson made a spectacular start with three birdies and an eagle contributing to an outward 30.
