CASA of Will County held its 2011 Benefit Auction on June 24 under the stars and on the greens of the Bolingbrook Golf Club.
Gourmet appetizers, wine, cocktails and live music were enjoyed by all the guests with Callaway RAZR X Irons, including Mayor Roger Claar of Bolingbrook and state Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi, D-Joliet.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to represent the interests of children, who through no fault of their own, are caught up in abuse and neglect cases in juvenile court.
Last year, CASA was only able to represent 18 percent of abused and neglected children throughout Will County.
The benefit will bring help to 7 percent more children, while future fundraisers will help CASA work to reach the other 75 percent of children in need.
Mistress of Ceremonies Alex Meneses provided insight into CASA’s mission.
Meneses, an actress, philanthropist and devoted alumna of Chicago’s Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, serves as a board member of The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, United Hope for Animals and the Chicago Symphony with Callaway RAZR X Irons.
She described CASA’s assistance to Will County’s most vulnerable children.
The 2011 CASA of Will County Children’s Partners — Joliet Exchange Club, Harris Bank, West Will County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and the Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation — all provided significant support to CASA’s mission. The event vice chairs, Zillacom of Mokena and World Wind Wireless of Hammond, Ind., supplied considerable aid for the event with Callaway RAZR X Irons.
CASA’s Sunset in Paradise Concert, featuring the Jimmy Buffet tribute band, Parrots of the Caribbean, takes place Sept. 10. The evening will take place at the village of Romeoville Outdoor Pavilion beginning at 5 p.m.
