As a beginner, at first glance I think that the Callaway FT i-Brid Irons are for high handicappers only. To be honest, they are very forgiving and easy to hit, so when I struggled with normal irons then these became the ones for me. However the trajectory produced right through the set is very good and not the high ballooning shot I would expect. The feel was surprisingly good and at address they looked OK despite extra weight at the back of the head. The longer irons would actually make great hybrid clubs as part of a larger set, so whilst mid or even low handicappers would not be seen dead with these at 7-PW, they would be wise to swallow their pride and have a go at some of the longer irons as they are a joy to hit.
With such surprise, certainly, they have many excellent features. The features are as following:
* Fusion Technology enables weight to be shifted for optimal performance through the use of a lightweight titanium body, Tunite weighting in the sole, and a TPU SenSert.
* Fully integrated set design provides seamless performance progression with consistent distance separation and optimal trajectories.
* New i-brids blend the control and accuracy of irons with the forgiveness, distance and versatility of hybrids.
* Super game-improvement mid and short irons provide the ultimate in forgiveness with increased offset, a large effective hitting area and wide sole.
* TPU SenSert decreases vibration for an incredibly solid feel.
* The New Modified Tru-Bore, an advanced version of the original Tru-Bore design, incorporated a polycarbonite tip plug at the end of the shaft that dampens vibration for enhanced feel and performance.
According to the features listed above, there is no doubt that the wholesale golf clubs are good performers. They get a lot of style and technology points with me. Conversely, though I applaud their efforts to try something different in the hybrids, it is nothing new. Modified long irons getting re-dubbed as hybrids didn't work the first time around, and, even with this kitschy technology, it still doesn't. My last little niggle, actually looks like a major faux paws for these guys.
