Callaway is touting the X-24 Irons as the longest and most accurate irons the company has ever made. The Callaway X-24 Hot Irons are the most rife iron set this year to bring heat. Do they help? Find the answer below.
They feature an undercut channel behind the face. The material and weight removed from that area are redistributed to the heel and toe areas to help create more stability. Where the X-24 Hot irons differ greatly is in the finish. Instead of bright, shiny chrome the clubs come standard in a glare-reducing rusty brown finish.
By increasing the length of the shaft by just an extra ¼ inch per club and redistributing the weight in the clubhead, the results are truly outstanding clubs. There is a special synergy between the golfer and their precision clubs and the better the interaction, the more the play flows. The Callaway Golf- X-24 Hot Irons are truly synergistic in their design, allowing the energy to flow directly between golfer and ball with no resistance.
Callaway engineers strengthened loft in the long and mid-irons (the PW is the same as in X-22 irons) and redesigned the head to account for new weight distribution. The X-24 Hot also boast evolutionary updates to tried-and-true design elements, such as "variable face thickness" (VFT) technology and "precision notch weighting" in the rear. VFT produces 2.2 mph faster ball speed than the X-22 do, for longer, more consistent length on mis-hits. The large cavity notch spreads weight to the heel and toe, for ample head stability and improved accuracy.
According to Dr. Alan Hocknell, Callaway's senior vice president of research and development said, "We recognize there are golfers looking for distance gains throughout their entire bag, and thus employed our core technologies and faster ball speeds into the design of X-24 Hot, a longer, more accurate set than any of their predecessors." Besides, they have both right and left hand models.
Overall, Callaway Golf's line of X-series irons have always been ridiculously easy to use for me. I remember my first round using a set of Callaway's earliest X-12s a decade ago and having grown up using blades, the switch to something that actually helped me get the ball in the air, was a genuine revelation. The Callaway X-24 Irons are one of them. I will expect more new golf club from the series.
