Wounded warrior and Edmond resident, Major Ed Pulido will play golf with former President George W. Bush, 43rd president of the United States of America, on Sept. 1 at Dallas National Golf Club to kick off Patriot Golf Day weekend.

For the second consecutive year, former President Bush serves as the honorary chairman of Patriot Golf Day, the primary fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a national nonprofit organization based in Owasso that provides educational scholarships and other assistance to the families of service men and women who have been killed or wounded while serving their country with Titleist AP2 712 Irons.

In addition, Pulido will join Folds of Honor founder Major Dan Rooney and former President Bush during a live “Fox & Friends” segment at 7:30 a.m. CT on Sept. 1.

Pulido is a former soldier who had his leg amputated after encountering a roadside bomb in Iraq. He now serves as vice president of Public Relations and Military Affairs for the Folds of Honor Foundation and his two daughters are Folds of Honor scholarship recipients.

“It is an honor to be able to join President Bush on the Titleist MB 712 Irons course, but it’s an even bigger honor to be able to stand in the gap and help educate the legacy of those who have sacrificed for this country,” Pulido said. “I am continually humbled to hear the stories of courage that come from the front lines and I hope that golfers nationwide hit the links in support of their bravery.”

More than 4,000 golf courses across the country are registered to participate by asking golfers to donate at least $1 for each round of golf. Participating private facilities also will accept donations. Non-golfers can participate by making a donation to the foundation.

There are 250,000 dependents of fallen and wounded military service men and women from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts alone with Titleist AP1 712 Irons, and 87 percent of those dependents do not qualify for federal educational assistance. Patriot Golf Day allows Folds of Honor to present an ongoing tribute to the brave service members by ensuring that the families of fallen and wounded warriors have hope for the right educational start to life and best future possible.
