The Callaway Razr Hawk Driver is made for both power and accuracy with its precise design using forged composite technology. This is why the engineers were able to put the weight exactly where it is necessary to create the most potential distance without giving up any accuracy. When you pair this technology with an Aldila RIP graphite shaft, then you have a golf club that is ready to improve your game.
This specific driver is available in draw and neutral configurations so that you can get the face designed for your specific ball flight. If you choose the draw model you can cut your fade or slice down, whereas, if you already draw the ball or hit is fairly straight, then you want the neutral model to maximize your game.
Key Technologies: Forged composite, a cutting-edge material (forging carbon fiber) co-developed with Lamborghini, allows Callaway engineers the freedom to precisely control wall thickness. As a result, specific body parts are made thinner (lighter) or thicker (heavier) as desired.
Look: The face has pleasing head shape with black coloring and shaft has red arrow alignment aid.
From address the Razr Hawk driver looks very similar to the FT-9. There is the same arc line on the crown as the FT drivers, which took me about a round to get used to; it just looked strange to me at first, I don't notice it all now. It also has a Callaway arrow as an alignment guide, which I do like; I'm not a fan of having nothing to line up with. It is a fairly glossy black on the crown, which gets finger marks and things on all the time, which really bugs me at address (it's just catches my eye once I've seen it).
Performance/Playability: Testers hit all sorts of shots with ease. It is repeatable, hot flight.
I'm not a huge fan of trying to work a driver, I've always felt that unless you play offscratch or better you shouldn't really be trying. That's my opinion when I'm not playing anyway; reality on the course is that I love trying it. It is pretty damn forgiving as well. You get the best results if you hit it deadcentre, but the difference in flight and total distance if you miss the sweetspot is not huge. It's always nice to know that you have a bit of safety net if you're not swinging it too well.
Feel:
The RIP shaft defiantly has custom graphics, and I'm not sure if it is a made for or not, but it feels amazing what ever it is. At 46" standard length its pretty long (seems to be standard length for a driver shaft now), but it never feels uncontrollable.I never felt as though I was going to loose control of the head in the swing no matter how hard I swung at it.
If you're all about distance, Callaway has the Callaway Diablo Edge Driver. But if you like to draw the ball around a corner or fade it into the short grass, the company now offers the RAZR Hawk driver.
